Woodcock Institute Distinguished Lecturer Grant
Purpose
The purpose of this grant is to provide funds for 91ΑΤΖζ colleges, departments, and/or academic programs (91ΑΤΖζ units) to co-sponsor bringing to 91ΑΤΖζ a nationally recognized professional to present a lecture and to interact with faculty and students. The expertise of the distinguished lecturer and the topic they would be presenting and consulting on needs to be consistent with the mission of the Woodcock Institute. The Distinguished Lecturer could be a colleague with a shared research expertise or an expert in a topical area of interest to the faculty/students/ 91ΑΤΖζ community/extended community at-large.
Budget
The requested budget is a maximum of $5,000. 91ΑΤΖζ units may choose to supplement these expenses with other funds as needed to attract a nationally known speaker.
The 91ΑΤΖζ co-sponsored unit would be responsible for paying any additional expenses (e.g., dinner reception, luncheon, advertising, etc.) not covered by the Woodcock Institute grant.
Possible Event Structure:
An example of how this invited lecture could work:
Day 1 - travel day for distinguished lecturer (dinner reception hosted by the 91ΑΤΖζ unit) (travel and lodging costs paid on the grant)
Day 2 - Morning lecture open to the 91ΑΤΖζ community and perhaps other interested parties, depending upon the topic (honorium paid by the grant)
- Lunch provided for the speaker and small group of faculty and/or invited guests (paid for by the 91ΑΤΖζ unit).
- Afternoon discussions β meet with 91ΑΤΖζ unitβs faculty/students either individually or in small groups.
- Late afternoon/early evening/Day 3 β travel home.
Application Process
Applications are due September 1st for Fall speaker requests, and February 1stfor Spring speaker requests. Funding will be budgeted from the Woodcock Institute for one Fall and one Spring grant. Grant Application [PDF]
Grant Acknowledgement
Any advertising for the event should include the title βWoodcock Institute Distinguished Lecturerβ and acknowledge βco-sponsored by the Woodcock Institute for the Advancement of Neurocognitive Research and Applied Practiceβ.
