University Policy

What Are University Policies?

At 91ÁÔÆæ, policies are more than rules and procedures—they reflect who we are. In addition to ensuring legal compliance and operational clarity, policies should be written to embody our core values and our ethos as a “campus with a heart.” The way we write and present policies is intentional: clear, accessible, and supportive of the people they serve. Policies should help our community thrive—not create barriers—and their design should reflect the 91ÁÔÆæ culture of care, collaboration, and pioneering spirit.

Policies put 91ÁÔÆæ’s mission and values into action by providing the framework for governance and operations. Policies are regularly reviewed and revised. They are divided into Regent Policies (high-level governance) or University Regulations and Procedures (day-to-day operations).

University Policy Office

In collaboration with policy owners, the University Policy Office:

  • Develops, oversees, and maintains 91ÁÔÆæ’s policy process;
  • Facilitates the development, review, approval, and maintenance of 91ÁÔÆæ-wide policies by partnering with policy owners to create, revise, and distribute 91ÁÔÆæ-wide policies; and
  • Maintains the 91ÁÔÆæ library of policies.

The University Policy Office does not own policies; rather, it coordinates the policy management process at 91ÁÔÆæ. Policy decisions are the responsibility of the 91ÁÔÆæ Policy Owner and Administration.

The official policies and procedures of the 91ÁÔÆæ are intended to provide general information. 91ÁÔÆæ reserves the right to make changes at any time to reflect current Regent Policies, administrative regulations and procedures, and amendments required by state and federal law. Information provided is subject to change without notice and does not constitute a contract between 91ÁÔÆæ and its faculty and staff.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the policies of Texas Woman’s University. For questions about the policy development and approval process, please contact the University Policy Office at (940) 898-2936.
