Research conducted by Catalina Pislariu, PhD, of the 91ÁÔÆæ Biology Department into rehabilitating farmland by planting crops that not only grow in depleted soil but also contribute to the regeneration of that exhausted earth has earned a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation.

Petina JD Powers has survived a litany of hardships, but now the sociology doctoral student is the first 91ÁÔÆæ student to earn a David L. Boren Fellowship, which she will use to study the Hindi language this summer before traveling to India to conduct research.
